A committee led by the Kerala Chief Secretary has approved infrastructure projects worth Rs 1,441 crore under NABARD’s Rural Infrastructure Development Fund (RIDF). The funding covers various sectors including forest management, renewable energy, irrigation, and local governance. Specific allocations include Rs 159.64 crore for the Forest Department, Rs 199.70 crore for solar pumps installation by the Electricity Department, Rs 176.42 crore for irrigation by the Water Resources Department, and Rs 261 crore for paddy field renovations by the Kerala Land Development Corporation. The Agriculture Department will utilize Rs 176.14 crore for smart agricultural houses.
And Rs 165 crore has been earmarked for liquid waste management by the Local Self-Government Department. Additional projects worth Rs 243 crore are recommended for low-interest funding under the Fisheries and Aquaculture Infrastructure Development Fund. This initiative aims to enhance rural infrastructure, agriculture, and promote sustainable development in Kerala.
